Brookson hits the road with contractor workshops

27 November 2007

Brookson, the leading accountancy services and tax advice provider to contractors, has held a series of seminars across the UK, to update its customers on all the recent changes to legislation.

The summer saw some dramatic changes for contractors and the way they work, and the Brookson seminars are also an opportunity for contractors to raise any queries they might still have on the new MSC legislation.

And the feedback has been universal with the majority of those attending looking for more information on the new MSC legislation.

The seminars took place at ten regional locations including London, Manchester, Glasgow and Birmingham. In addition, Brookson hosted workshops at over 40 client sites.

Jim McMeekin, head of business development at Brookson said he has really enjoyed being able to deal directly with contractor’s queries in the seminars.

“We want to make sure that we are proactive in keeping our customers up to date on any legislation changes that affect their businesses,” Jim explained. “We want to take the information to the customer and these workshops were an invaluable opportunity to do so. What has been particularly pleasing is that almost all the contractors who have attended said they would be recommending the events to their friends.

“Based on the feedback we have been getting at the seminars, there have been two key topics high up on contractors’ agenda, IR35 compliance and further clarity on insurance. We will now be looking to address this and provide further information where we can.”
