Brookson gets up close and personal

31 October 2008

Following the success of our contractor workshops earlier this year, which provided our customers with essential updates on the changes to the MSC legislation as well as crucial year end information, Brookson has taken to the road again, this time with site visits.

These site visits enable the Brookson Business Development team to have 121 contact with a small group of customers, who use the opportunity to discuss any current issues and the hot topics of the industry.

Between May and September, we held a staggering 96 workshops. These enabled us to meet over 1,400 of you, and a large number of potential customers and reach our customers all over the UK – literally from Northern Scotland to Southern England.

We met with contractors from the engineering, aerospace, oil and gas, nuclear, and pharmaceutical sectors, all at end clients’ own sites. The main issues that contractors working at British Energy, BAE Systems, Shell, Airbus, Centrica and Costain, among many others, were keen to discuss have shifted throughout the summer in line with the news agenda. Whereas in May, you asked us for information on your responsibilities and statutory obligations given the changes to the MSC legislation, and how to maximise the benefits of your chosen ways of working, by September the Dragonfly case had hit the news and put IR35 back on the agenda. The Dragonfly case caused some concern in the temporary worker market, and you asked us to tell you what it meant for you. It also gave us chance to reaffirm Brookson’s stance on IR35 and to reinforce our strict code of compliance with IR35 at every stage.

We hope our workshops demonstrate our commitment to going above and beyond for our customers, enabling you to put a face to the Brookson name, and allowing us to stand up for our customers and the issues effecting you. We have another round of customer workshops planned for Spring 2009, and we hope to see you there.
