Contactor advice issued on website details
03 February 2010Posted by Alex Turner
Contractors opting to work as sole traders as a 'plan B' have been advised that any legal documents should contain the necessary information.
Responding to an enquiry on advice website Contractor UK, Ben Evans, trainee solicitor at Lawdit Solicitors, said sole traders who are selling goods or services on their websites must include their business name and VAT registration number under the Distance Selling Regulations and E-Commerce Regulations.
The expert explained that this was only necessary for sole traders who are VAT registered and said those who simply have web pages as adverts are only required to publish contact details such as a business name, phone number and e-mail address.
Mr Evans also advised having this information to hand when working in order to boost business potential.
"From a practical point of view, I would advise including an address on your stationery [and] business cards," he told the news provider.
