Employers looking to decrease time spent on recruitment
09 March 2010Posted by Alex Turner
Contractors in the UK could be among those to be affected by attitudes toward recruitment by employers.
A new report from TalentPuzzle has revealed that 86 per cent of businesses are looking to reduce the amount of time they spend on recruitment and dealing with recruiters.
This could be having a knock-on effect on contractors who are looking for new placements as only a handful of the hundreds of recruitment firms in the UK are being utilised, according to the report.
Almost three-quarters of the survey's respondents said they could be missing out on "potentially good candidates" as a result of limiting their recruitment pool.
Virginia Raemy, chief executive of TalentPuzzle, said: "I think because of the recession there are many more unemployed people looking for new jobs so they are applying to anything they see.
"So, I think the quality of CVs that employers receive isn't as good as it usually is and the quantity is much higher. If there is any method that can help [employers] to get better quality CVs then that helps them to recruit more efficiently."
