CIPD: Employers should recruit from wider talent pools
11 March 2010Posted by James Curtis
Employers could be set to recruit from a wider pool of talent on the back of a new business report.
This could be good news for sole traders and limited companies in a wide range of sectors that are looking for new placements and contracts.
The report, entitled Opening Up Talent for Business Success: Integrating Talent Management and Diversity, was published by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) in a bid to increase diversity in talent management strategies.
However, CIPD research has revealed that there is work to be done as many organisations are "not up to speed".
Claire McCartney, CIPD resourcing adviser and co-author of the report, said: "The reality is that many organisations are not recruiting and developing the best possible candidates because they have not built diversity considerations into their talent management approaches.
"It's important that organisations see talent management and diversity as more, not less important, in periods of economic uncertainty to outwit and outperform competitors through their people."
