A number of highly-skilled limited company contractors could be set to benefit from the opening of a new facility in Bristol.

Business secretary Vince Cable recently opened the new National Composites Centre in the city in a bid to speed up the time it takes new products to get from the laboratory to the shop floor.

The move could mean a number of new roles for contractors in the area.

According to the government, the new centre will cement Bristol's reputation as an international research hub and world-leading manufacturing base.

Dr Cable commented: "Here in the UK we are very good at invention, but we need to do more to innovate and turn our ideas into products and jobs. I don't want the UK to miss out on any opportunities to create economic growth through manufacturing.

"This centre will work with our world class universities and international businesses based in the south-west and across the UK, to develop and commercialise new technologies."
