Although the hard working IT contractor, freelancer or sole trader probably has little time to think about sunning it up in foreign climates, they may be drawn to warmer countries if they right level of opportunity came up.

This is what can be evidenced from the new Will you be heading overseas for work? Poll produced by the Professional Contractors Group (PCG).

While there is still a wealth of contracting opportunities in the UK, certain sectors remain sluggish so the PCG asked 'Will you be working or are you considering working overseas in the next 12 months?'

Of the people which have replied to poll so far, 50 per cent said that are serious considering overseas work, 22.1 per cent said that they would definitely be working overseas while 24.4 per cent said that they wouldn't consider moving to another country for employment purposes.

Some 3.5 per cent didn't opt either way because they said that they had never given the idea any consideration.

The poll will continue to run on the PCG's website until September 1st and may well have changed slightly by the time you read this.
