Contractors who regularly use accounting services could be among those claiming never to have suffered a financial headache.
The PCG is currently carrying out a study asking its members which financial issue has caused them the biggest headache during their contracting career.
While, with 35.6 per cent of the vote, mortgages were cited as the biggest problem, some 32.7 per cent of respondents said they have never experienced any difficulties.
Almost one-fifth (19.8 per cent) claimed paying into a pension was a major source of concern, while a further five per cent said insurances like payment protection caused them problems.
Another five per cent bemoaned making repayments on personal loans and the remaining two per cent said their main issues lied elsewhere.
"Those getting a mortgage are expected to provide proof of salary by their employer or similar – a barrier which the self employed can find impossible to overcome," the PCG explained.
"The whole process can turn into an administrative nightmare if you stroll into the bank expecting to sail through the advertised deal. Thankfully there are brokers and specialists out in the market."
