UK contractors working through a limited company in the UK's aerospace industry could be called upon for a new project in Kent.

Aircraft engineering firm Avman has announced the signing of a new contract with aircraft asset management company Falko.

The deal will see Avman recruit eight more engineers as it looks to store, care for and maintain up to six Avro RJ regional jet aircraft each year at Manston Airport.

Ian Dear, Falko's vice-president of technical operations, commented: "Manston Airport offers us ideal facilities to store our aircraft while we find new operators.

"With Avman approved to maintain the Avro RJ, it also allows us to prepare and deliver the aircraft to our customers from one location. By working together with the airport, Avman were able to provide Falko with a competitive price which led to this contract being awarded."

The aerospace sector appears to be in good health in the UK, with Philip Delaloye, West Midlands regional director for the REC's Institute of Recruitment Professionals, recently claiming the industry is "very buoyant" in both the East and West Midlands.
