Limited company contractors and other temporary workers in the UK could be set to see demand for their services increase over the next few months, a new report has suggested.

The study, conducted by research group Mindmetre, found that the number of UK businesses intending to increase their spending on marketing has climbed sharply over the last 12 months, suggesting that confidence is returning to the employment market.

Some 38.5 per cent of businesses intend to raise their marketing budgets in 2012, which is likely to lead to the creation of new positions, some of which are sure to be filled by UK contractors.

The outcome of the survey, Mindmetre observed, suggests that business confidence was growing, even though some economists have forecast the UK entering a double-dip recession later this year.

IT workers, meanwhile, are still in high demand despite ongoing economic challenges, according to the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC).

The REC observed recently that the IT and engineering sectors are showing signs of resilience.
