Demand for limited company contractors has increased significantly in the engineering and IT sectors, according to the latest Employment Index from recruitment company Monster.
Engineering opportunities have risen by 20 per cent over the past 12 months while role availability for IT professionals is up by 10 per cent.
The report said that demand for IT contractors is particularly large in the Midlands because the sector in that part of the country has expanded at a rate of 15 per cent a year recently.
“The increase in online recruitment is led by the engineering sector, which has seen a 20 per cent rise over the last year, as well as significant growth in a range of occupations,” said Monster UK & Ireland managing director Julian Acquari.
“When we see opportunities spread across a range of industries in this way, it’s one sign of stability,” he added.
