Your responsibilities
Responsibilities when running a limited company
Many self-employed people run their business as a limited company. There are certainly plenty of advantages to choosing this option, however setting up a limited company brings certain responsibilities, too.
If you decide to run your business as a limited company, you officially become a director of that company.
As a company director, you are legally responsible for a range of tasks, including:
- ensuring your business is properly set up and registered with the appropriate authorities, like Companies House, HMRC, your local authority.
- completing the official returns.
- managing your finances and paying the right amount of tax when it is due.
- ensuring your business has proper insurance to protect you and your clients.
